Female representation Kyrgyzstan sinema: the Kyrgyz miracle films (1960-1980)

This research tries to examine how female characters are represented in Kyrgyzstan cinema in the 1960s-1980s period called "Kyrgyz Miracle" in line with feminist film theory. Feminist theory in cinema is one of the most important theories in cinema today and it carries as much value as women's rights. In every movie, how the female character is represented, how much she appears and how she is presented should be read with feminist theory. In the literature review section of the research, feminist theory in cinema, the place of women in Kyrgyz society and the history of Kyrgyz cinema are explained. In the findings section of the research, selected films from the "Kyrgyz Miracle" period are analyzed with feminist theory. Content analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, is used in the review. In addition, films are also evaluated with the Bechdel test.
