Abstract (EN)

This study aims to comprehensively present a general understanding of cryptocurrencies, features, risks, regulatory environments and the cryptocurrency situation in Turkey. The research questions and objectives focus on key points including the definition, history, components and technologies of cryptocurrency. In the light of the literature cited in the study, it will examine the international perspective on cryptocurrency regulation and evaluate various regulatory approaches and frameworks. The roles of major regulatory bodies in this area will be discussed. For example, it will examine cryptocurrency regulations in Japan, Australia and the United States and some other countries, presenting their legal frameworks and specific initiatives taken by regulatory authorities. Moreover, the data obtained will also allow to see the status of cryptocurrency in the current Turkish Legal system, its legal status, taxation and reporting obligations, consumer protection and investor risks. Thus, the current regulatory framework in Turkey can be assessed. In short, this research will provide a comprehensive analysis on cryptocurrencies, risks and regulatory environments, providing valuable insights for policymakers, regulators and stakeholders involved in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
