Abstract (EN)

The subject I have been studying contains the Ottoman weapons exhibited in Kırıkkale MKEK Weapon Museum and as understood from title, it deals with only the Ottoman term of Turkish weapon history and examines the type of weapons, and evolution of them and an example of introduction. As a pre-information I tried to reflect Turkish tradition of using weapons and the importance of weapons in history. This data is given as Pre-Ottoman and Ottoman Times to prevent confliction and some definitions are given shortly. The Ottoman weapons exhibited in the museum, are explained in sub- topics as protective weapons, cutting weapons, piercing weapons, shooting weapons and weapons with ignition. These weapons are explained with their original names in Ottoman period and periods, sizes, styles, materials, construction techniques and decorations if they have any are given in detail. These explanations are reinforced with photos and drawings for better visual conception. As a conclusion of this study, the Otttoman weapons are not only considered as destroying objects but they are objects of art with their design and decoration techniques. These decorations reflect the taste of period they are made in.They are also examples to see how weapon technology has changed and evolved through time. These panoramic documents are very important to reflect all these knowledge and it must be considered seriously exhibiting and demonstrating these weapons.Keywords:1- Weapons2- Ottoman3- MKEK Museum4- Kırıkkale5- İgnition
