Abstract (EN)
This study's aim is to search the short and long term effects of the EMG Biofeedback application added to the exercise program of the patient have chronic low back pain, to the pain, trunk muscle strength, functional situation and the quality of life.Fourty patients taken to the study. Patients randomized to study and control group of two(n=20). The patients in study group taken fifteen sessions with EMG biofeedback to the exercise program determined to strengthen the trunk flexor extensor muscles. The same exercise program is applied to the patients in control group without EMG biofeedback. At the end of the treatment the home exercise program include these exercise was suggested to the patients of two groups. At the beginning, after fifteen sessions of treatment and at the third month, patients were evaluated with finger-to-floor distance, Visual Analog Scale, Modified Oswestry Questionnare, Short Form-36 and isometric?isokinetic trunk muscle strength measurement. Finally, a significant improvement gained in both groups at the end of the treatment and third month in pain severity and functional capacity. In finger-to-floor distance, a significant improvement sighted in both groups at the end of the treatment and just in study group in third month. In study group a significant improvement confirmed in quality of life at the end of the treatment and third month. A significant improvement couldn't gained in control group.A significant rise gained just in the study group at the end of the treatment in 60º/sec-120º/sec flexion, 60º/sec -120º/sec extension and isometric extension torque. A significant rise could be confirmed 60º/sec extension torques at the end of the treatment and 120º/sec flexion torques in third month in control group. A significant rise couldn't be gained in isometric flexion torques in both groups. In all parameters gained improvement in both groups muscle strength measurement all the time the improvement in study group is found more significant than control group. Finally, it was confirmed that the treatment is more effective to do the body strengthen exercises to the chronic low back pain patients with EMG biofeedback on the pain, trunk muscles strength functional situation and the quality of life at the end of treatment and more effective than the exercise treatment at long term.Key words: chronic low back pain, EMG biofeedback, trunk muscles strength
