Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT INFLUENCE OF TRAINING PROVIDED BY THE NURSE FOR DIABETIC OR HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS DIAGNOSED WITH CHRONIC KIDNEY FAILURE ON SOME PARAMETERS AND QUALITY OF LIFE Ayşe ŞAHİN Postgraduate Thesis, Department of Nursing Master of Internal Medicine Nursing Thesis Advisor Assoc. Dr. Özlem OVAYOLU February-2018 84, page This research was done in a quasi-experimental way to determine influence of training provided by the nurse on some parameters and quality of the life for diabetic and hypertensive patients diagnosed with chronic kidney failure (CKF). Approval was got from the ethics committee, the institution and the patients. The number of samples was determined through calculation of power analysis and the patients appropriate for criteria to study were divided as the intervention group (30) and the control group (30). Data of the research was obtained through a question form and the scale of Kidney Disease Quality Of Life SF-36 (KDQOL-36). KDQOL consists of five sub-dimensions. Points vary between 0 and 100 for each dimension. High points mean improving of quality of life. The question form and KDQOL were employed for both of the groups at the beginning and end of the study. The patients in the intervention group were trained based on the booklet for training. Also, the training was provided again by informing the patients about the results through phone calls. Except for the clinical routine, any other practice was not employed for the control group. Data of the research was analyzed through chi square. Student t, Mann whitney U, Freidman and paired t tests. After the training, except for calcium, no significant difference was determined between the groups in terms of blood parameters. However, it was seen that while average points of all life-quality sub-dimensions for the intervention group increased (p<0.05), average points of all sub-dimensions, except for symptom sub-dimension, decreased. Based on results of the research, it can be recommended that quality of life diabetic and hypertensive patients diagnosed with CKF can be improved by providing training for them and their clinical indicators can be evaluated through long term follows. Key words: Chronic kidney failure, diabetes, hypertension, nurse, training, quality of life.
