Abstract (EN)
Aim: The aim of this study was to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool according to the Roy Adaptation Model that can assess the adaptation to chronic disease, and to evaluation adaptation of the patients with chronic disease to the disease. Materials and Methods: Methodological and descriptive cross-sectional survey; 500 chronic patients receiving inpatient treatment at a university hospital's internal services. Methodological study (n=300); Scope validity (Kendall W), explanatory factor analysis, item analyzes and Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient were used. In a cross-sectional study (n=200); t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were used. Results: There was an agreement between the expert opinions of the items in the scale (Kendall W=0.091). As a result of the explanatory factor analysis, a 5-point Likert type 28-item scale and 2-factor scale structure were observed. The Bartlett Sphericity test was found significant and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test was found to be 0.915. The Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was 0.949, Spearman-Brown and Guttman values were 0.975 and 0.974, respectively. In the study; ıt was found that a positive correlation between the scores of the Chronic Disease Assessment Scale and the education levels, and a significant negative correlation with the age and duration of diagnosis. Results: The Chronic Disease Adaptation Scale developed in this study, it is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to evaluate compliance with chronic disease. As the education level of patients increases, adaptation to chronic disease increases, and as the age and duration of illness increase, compliance decreases. It is recommended that appropriate nursing interventions be planned in order to ensure that elderly patients with a low level of education and adapt to chronic disease. Keywords: Chronic disease, adaptation, Roy Adaptation Model, methodological study.
