Özet (EN)

This research was conducted as a descriptive study to examine the effect of drug compliance levels on sleep and quality of life in patients with chronic heart failure. The scope of our study consisted of 140 patients who were treated at Kırşehir Training and Research Hospital between May 2022 and May 2023, and the sample was over 18 years old and complied with the criteria. In obtaining study data; Patient identification form, Health Beliefs on Drug Use Scale, Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Coexistence Questionnaire, SF-36 Quality of Life Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index were used. Before the data were collected, institutional permission, ethics committee permission and consent from the patients were obtained from the institution where the study was conducted. Data collection was carried out face to face. Descriptive statistics, t-test for independent groups, U=Mann-Whitney U test, F=One-way analysis of variance, KW=Kruskal Wallis correlation analyzes were used in the analysis of the data. The value of p<0.05 was accepted as significant in statistical evaluations. The mean age of the sample group is 73.25+11.14. 54.3% of the patients were female and 45.7% were male. 60% of the patients are in primary school, 67% are retired, 97.9% have health insurance. 97.1% take medication for coronary artery disease, but 46.4% use their medication regularly. In the study, it was determined that patients with comorbidities with aging, poor NYHA (The New York Heart Association) classification, and low EF(Ejection Fractions) percentages were more drug-adherent, as well as worsening sleep and quality of life. As a result, it can be suggested that this study should be studied in different places with a larger sample, appropriate support and care should be applied to evaluate and increase the drug compliance level of patients with heart failure, to gain a healthy lifestyle and to provide trainings to increase sleep quality. In addition, nurses can be supported by the hospital management with in-service training on the services to be provided to the patients.
