Özet (EN)

The usage of BODE index has been increased in the follow-up of COPD patients, recently. We investigated the relationship between BODE index and quality of life, CRP, TNF-?, IL-8; systemic inflammatory markers.88 male, 15 female 103 stable COPD (GOLD) were evaluated by pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis, body mass index, dypnea scale, St. George Quality of Life (SGQOL) questionnaire and serum levels of CRP, TNF-?, IL-8.Mean age of patients was 63,7±10.7 and stage 1, 2, 3, 4 disease were observed in 22%, 41%, 26%, 14 % of them, respectively. 54% of the patients were BODE 1, 19% were BODE 2, 14% were BODE 3 and 13% were BODE 4. There was a significant relationship between BODE and COPD stage(p<0.01); duration(p<0.013); number of exacerbations(p<0.01) and annual hospitalization rates(p<0.01). A negatively significant relationship was observed between BODE and PO2(p<0.01) while there was a positively significant relationship with PCO2(p<0.01). CRP was also correlated with BODE(p=0.019). However, TNF-? and IL-8 were not correlated. SGQOL symptom, activity, sensation scores and total scores were significantly related with BODE(p<0.01).As BODE index has a strong correlation with various COPD follow-up and prognosis parameters and systemic inflammation, in the evaulation of COPD patients it should also be considered.
