Abstract (EN)

In spite of the fact that lasers have a history of many years in dentistry, the combining effects of different wavelengths to enhance the success of periodontal treatment have not been studied much. In this split-mouth single blinded clinical trial, it has been aimed to evaluate the potential benefits of combined ErCr:YSGG and 940nm Diode laser in addition to non- surgical periodontal treatment. Systemically healthy 25 patients with chronic periodontitis were included in the study. It was also evaluated that they have not used antibiotics and have not received periodontal treatment for the last 6-month period. All patients have been informed about the possible effects of laser assisted periodontal treatment methods used in this study. After the initial clinical measurements oral hygiene instructions were given to the patient. After one week patients underwent 940 nm diode laser at the settings of 1W, CW to the randomly determined quadrants. After this process supragingival calculus removal was done and patients were recalled after 7 days. In the second appointment 1,5W, CW diode laser was applied to the quadrants randomly determined before. This was followed by conventional subgingival debridement. Finally ErCr:YSGG laser at the settings of 30Hz 1,5W with %40 air and %60 water. After laser assisted periodontal therapy, clinical parameters were evaluated in the first and third month.
