Özet (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between the perception of fatherhood role and their participation in childcare practices of fathers living in countryside and having children between the ages of 3-6. The data obtained in this context were collected using scales applied to the father of 291 children aged 3-6 living in countryside in Mersin province. Data collection tools consist of two scales and one form: Personal Information Form with 11 matters, Perception of Fatherhood Role Scale with 25 matters and Father Involvement Scale with 37 matters. The data obtained from the participants were analyzed with SPSS 23.0. Parametric tests were used in this study, which was carried out using the snowball sampling method, due to its normal distribution. Accordingly, the t-test was used to compare the quantitative continuous data between the means of two independent groups, and the (One-way) ANOVA test was used to compare the quantitative continuous data between the averages of more than two independent groups. After the ANOVA test, Tukey and Tamhane's test were used as a complementary post-hoc analysis to determine the differences. Pearson's correlation analysis was applied among the continuous variables of the study. The perception of fathers living in countryside regarding the role of paternity differ according to their age, marital status, duration of marriage, number of children, children's gender, education level, their job and monthly income. The participation of fathers living in countryside in childcare practices differs according to their duration of marriage, number of children, education level, their job and monthly income level. As fathers living in countryside increase their positive perception of the role of paternity, their participation in childcare practices increases.
