Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, a hybrid energy system capable of generating electricity from wind and solar energy has been designed and implemented. Solar panels are one of the most important components of the hybrid system, converting incident sunlight directly into electrical energy without any moving parts. Wind energy, on the other hand, is obtained through wind turbines. A wind turbine is a structure equipped with large blades, usually located at high altitudes or offshore. When the wind turns these blades, mechanical energy is produced. A hybrid system is an energy system that combines at least two different energy sources. By improving energy efficiency and reducing fossil fuel consumption, hybrid systems minimize environmental impact. Hybrid systems have become increasingly important in the energy field in terms of sustainability, efficiency, and reliability. In the hybrid system designed using the HOMER program, the energy produced using solar and wind energy is stored in batteries and used for loads when needed. If the batteries are fully charged, the excess energy is used directly to meet the needs of the loads. At the same time, in cases where solar panels and wind turbines cannot produce energy, the needs of the loads are provided from the grid via on-grid connection. In this way, the energy needs of the loads in the system are always met. The PV panels and wind turbine outputs used in the hybrid system are connected to the hybrid inverter, which regulates the grid voltage and frequency, together with the batteries, and the loads are fed by outputting from this inverter. While the energy, current and power values produced by the PV panels and wind turbine in the system are recorded instantaneously, daily, weekly and monthly, the battery group's fullness and charge level are recorded instantly by the hybrid inverter. By considering these data, the hybrid system was examined. Thanks to energy production and consumption data, the performance of the system is evaluated and optimized.
