Evaluation of the interaction between rural settlements and eco-villages in the context of sustainability: Çanakkale sample

Human had tended to add an interpretation to the ecological order occurring around them as the main factor in the ongoing change and transformation since its existence. In the modern era, some people thought that many factors will cause major dramatic issues in the future human settlements like the emergency of global markets, the industrial agriculture, the daily routine between home and work and the lifestyles oriented towards advertising rather than basic needs. But also the inevitable loss of community spirit and nature-based ecological thinking in villages, the consumption of non-renewable energies, the misuse of water resources and more generally the environmental, economic and social issues in urban areas. In order to solve these problems, several alternative sustainable lifestyles and models have been defined. One of them is the "eco-village" concept. Eco-village; It is a natural initiative based on unity, solidarity and life, which came together in 1960-70 for a common and special purpose. Their aim is to create a nature-integrated healthy community and environment by bringing ecological answers to problems. The purpose of this study; To evaluate the interaction of eco-villages that emerged within the framework of sustainability and originated from this concept by nature, with the surrounding rural villages in terms of sustainability parameters. In the study, four ecological farms with some of the eco-village approaches in Turkey; their physical and socio-cultural characteristics and their relations with rural settlements have been evaluated in the context of ecological, economic and socio-cultural sustainability. For this purpose, after a detailed literature analysis, a field study using observation, on-site detection and interview techniques was carried out.
