The determination of yield and quality properties of some sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) varieties in Kirşehir ecological condition

This study was conducted to determine the yield and quality characteristics of 10 different sugar beet cultivars (Terranova, Bernache, Ouragan, Libellüle, Tuna, Gregoria, Preziosa, Kuzey-1, Kuzey-2, Kuzey-6) in Kırşehir ecological conditions. The trial was conducted using a randomized complete block design with three replications. In the study, root length, root diameter, root weight, root-tail length, number of beets, dry matter ratio, alpha-amino nitrogen ratio, sugar ratio, root yield and sugar yield were examined. In this research, following parameters were found to be statistically significant (%1); root length, root diameter, root weight, root-tail length, number of beets, dry matter ratio; alpha amino nitrogen, sugar content, root yield and sugar yield in terms of differences between cultivars. The Tuna cultivar which was the different from other in terms of sugar content, has the highest sugar rate with %18.59 percent. Kuzey-6 variety with the highest root yield (10390.33 kg/da) reached the highest value with 1742.00 kg/da sugar yield. As a result of this study, Kuzey-6 variety, which was superior both in terms of sugar yield and root yield, is recommended for region and similar ecologies.
