Determination of the effects of different row spacings on seed yield of some common vetch varieties

This research was conducted in the experimental fields of Ahi Evran University Agricultural Faculty in 2014. The trial was established in split plot design with three replications. Five common vetch varieties, Kubilay-82,Cumhuriyet, Alınoğlu-2001, Alper and SZF-1 as main plots were grown by using three different row spacings as subplots. Seed yields of common vetch varieties under different row spacings ranged between 38.8-112.3 kg/da. There were not significant differences among row spacings. Similar yields were obtained with the first two row spacings, but the yield decreased in 60 cm application. Biological yield changed from175.9 to 286.5 kg/da. High yields were observed in narrow spacings while the lowest value was belonged to 60 cm. The number of pods per plant content in plants increased as the row distance spacings decreased in the study. Variety SZF-1 had the highest values for plant height, pods per plant, seeds per pod, in the biological and seed yield. Alper reached to the highest values for the harvest index and crude protein ratio. It was concluded that SZF-1 and Alper were the suitable varieties for Kırsehir conditions with the row spacings of 20 or 40 cm.
