Concept design of a ship to carry passengers of higher amounts in short distance and evaluation in the aspect of functionality

It?s a reality that dealing with sea transportation in the aspects of sea vehicles and in the sense of management is a necessity. Although the level of variety has been grown up by civil and private contractors, alternative and effective solutions are needed as well. In the introduction part of this thesis which is prepared with this perspective, it is mentioned that why it is necessary to deal with this problem and the aim of this thesis is put forward. In the second part the present sea transportation is criticised; the advantages and disadvantages are dealed with as a guide for our study. Then ship design and its phases are mentioned in the continuing chapter. Also ?concept design? term is mentioned. Under the title of ?The Characteristics of Alternative Transportation? the features of alternative system is explained in the name of hull, port and management. In the practice part ?alternative concept ships? which are designed are placed for people who will make a decision. Also the criteria for the ships are determined and the results of the evaluation questionnaire. In the conclusion paragraph the questionnaire about the ships are evaluated in the name of multi-criterion decision method.
