Abstract (EN)

Objective: To investigate the relationship between systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII), prognostic nutritional index (PNI), neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and Hemoglobin/red blood cell distribution width ratio (Hgb/RDW) with prognosis in small cell lung cancer. Material and Methods: 132 patients over 18 years of age with a diagnosis of small cell lung cancer, who were followed up in the Medical Oncology Clinic of Samsun Training and Research Hospital between January 2014 and March 2021 and diagnosed by our clinic and started on cisplatin + etoposide treatment, were retrospectively screened. 105 patients who met the inclusion criteria were included in the study. Age, gender and life span of the patients were recorded. Complete blood count, glucose, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), urea, creatinine, lactic dehydrogenase, albumin values obtained in the first evaluation before chemotherapy were obtained from patient files and recorded. SII, PNI, and Hgb/RDW ratios were calculated using these data obtained at the time of diagnosis. Calculation of prognostic indices used in the study; SII: [(platelet × neutrophil)/lymphocyte], PNI: [10 x serum albumin (g/dl) + 0,005 x total lymphocyte count (per mm3)] and Hgb / RDW. Results: The median overall survival of 105 patients included in the study was 10,93 (0,4–41,10) months. According to this median overall survival time, patients were divided into 2 groups as high overall survival (>10,93 months) and low, low overall survival (≤10,93 months). When comparing the main parameters of the study between the two groups, it was observed that both NLR and Hgb/RDW ratios were statistically significantly lower in the high overall survival group. PNI and SII values were found to be statistically similar between the two groups. It was determined that none of the parameters had a statistically significant effect on survival in the cut-off values obtained as a result of the ROC curve analysis. Conclusion: It was determined that PNI, Hgb/RDW, NLR and SII values did not have a significant effect on survival results when the threshold values were calculated by ROC analysis and divided into groups as high and low values. It was concluded that the factors we analyzed did not have a significant prognostic effect.
