Abstract (EN)

In this study we aimed to assess the prognostic impact of hematological variables in patients diagnosed with metastatic non small cell lung cancer. 102 consecutive patients who were treated as metastatic non small cell lung cancer between 2010–2016 at the Namik Kemal University Hospital Medical Oncology Clinic and who met the inclusion criteria for the study were included in the study group. Patients hematological parameters before the start of the chemotherapy and the demographical and clinical parameters were obtained from the medical records retrospectively. The optimal cut off levels determined by using ROC curve analysis for NLR, PLR and LMR were 2.5, 3, and 183, respectively. Median OS and median PFS were 10 and 6 months respectively. In univariate analysis elevated NLR, PLR ration and lower LMR were found to have an adverse effect on PFS and OS. Among clinical parameters ECOG performance score, older age and single organ metastatic disease were found to be positively correlated with survival. In multivariate cox regression analysis only single organ metastatic disease was found to be an independent prognostic factor. In conclusion NLR, PLR and LMR were found to be closely related with survival however their role as an independent prognostic factor was not confirmed in the metastatic setting of non small cell lung cancer. The impact of systemic inflammation markers in the metastatic disease needs to be further elucidated.
