Özet (EN)

The purpose of this study is to conduct an audit of humanresource management activities of SmallandMid-Size Companies (SMSC) in Adana province of Turkey. Specifically the study aims at identifying those humanresource management activities which are comperatively more in use than otheractivities in SMSC's. Due to resource scarcity, SME's tend to outsource some of the human resource management functions, while keeping strict control in other functions. To achieve this purpose, 94 SMSC type companies were administered HR Audit questionnaie in which 13 Human Resource functions contain 104 items. In order to collect data, theresearcher met the HR professionals and interviewed them face-to-face. Among the 94 SMSCs, 49 firms were considerd small-size and 45 were considerd midium-size firms. When closely examined SMSCs in Adana province, there seems to be a tendency to rise in the number of human resource functions by the size of employees. But overall, majority of SMSCs operate within the traditional management paradigms in which Human Resource Management activities considered secondary in importance. It is recommended that in order to capture competetive advantages in their area of operations they need to align their HR processes with thei rbusiness strategies.
