Abstract (EN)

One of the most important factors affecting the engineering structures during earthquake islocal soil conditions. Because of this reason, site investigation and determination of variationof local site conditions within a region of high seismicity presents importance. Instrumentalrecords obtained in recent years have indicated that earthquake charectiristic could performedtoo much difference form a point to another point. Consequently, evaluation of effects oflocal soil conditions to the engineer structures during earhtquake is especially important. Oneof the most appropriate methods is determination of this variation. Microzonation couldnamed as determination of soil layers expose how a behavior and earthquake hazard affectingengineering structures expose how a variation within investigation region taking intoconsideration earthquake characteristic could happen in a region. In this study, microzonation of Küçükçekmece - Halkalı region has been performed accordingto Microzonation Manual (MERM, 2003). The research area was divided into 250 m × 250 mgrids and representative soil profiles were constituted in the middle of each grids. Local soilclassifictions were defined acorrding to both Turkish Earthquake Code(1998) andNEHRP(2001). Site response analyses were performed using two different programs, calledEERA(2000) and NERA(2001). Zonation, according to Ground Shaking were performed andresults have been evaluated in GIS environment. Keywords: Istanbul-Halkalı, Microzonation, EERA, NERA, Geographical InformationSystem (GIS).xii
