Though the painters and the writer lived in different periods and do not know each other, their creativities came together due to the illustrations of the Kukryniksy's group. The art works of the Kukryniksy's group, has an important place in the XX. Century Russian painting art. The long-term and productive studies of the artists in the field of caricature, bring critical feature in their works in which the humour and satire together are involved. Also, in the studies of the Kukryniksy's group, the exhibition of the deep thoughts and emotions in the events which seem daily and ordinary, consisted of their distinctive features. The artists succeed to convey the psychic unrest of the heroes with the help of the description of the semblances, light and small details. The illustrations which the Kukryniksy's group portrays for the lyric stories of Chekhov's stories, are involved in the remarkable studies of the group as having the above mentioned features. The artists describe illustrations for almost all works of the writer. The group which generally lays emphasis on the element of humour, emphasizes the lyric feature for the first time in the portrayed studies of the writer, titled as Sorrow, Vanka, Woman with the Small Dog, The House with the Mezzanine, Ionych and the Betrothed Girl. The painters in these illustrations, start to attract the attention to the inner world, emotions, pain and the psychology of man which do not exist in his previous works. For this reason, the lyric stories are selected for our study and the effects of the contents of these works on the creativity of the Kukryniksy's group, shall be examined. One of the aims of the study is to show the bond between the fields of literature and painting which are two different branches of art. For this reason, for the lyric works of Chekhov, the illustrations which are depicted by Kukryniksy's shall be dealt with. By supporting the illustrations with the quoted passages from the stories, the interaction between the two branches of art and Chekhov and the group shall be scrutinised as well as the overlapping of the works with the texts, shall be shown. And the other aim of the work is its making contribution to getting information about the group of Kukryniksy, which is not known in Turkey.
