Prof. Dr. Meltem DİLEKThis study includes observation of the synthesis and the phase transfer reactions of thecalixarenes containing different functional groups (benzoyl and tiyofenacetyl) and thepolymers of this compounds. The structures of the synthesized makrosiclic compunds is enlightened by thespecktroscopic techniques. In this thesis, as an output material 5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-25,26,27,28-tetrahydroxycalix[4]aren is synthesized by methods mentioned in the litreture. Afterthe treatment of this synthesized compound with respectively benzoylclorid and 2-tiyofenacetylklorid , 5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-25,27-dibenzoyloxy-26,28-dihydroxycalix[4]aren (2) and 5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-25,27-di-(2-tiyofenacetyl)-26,28-dihydroxycalix[4]aren (3) monomers are created. As a result of reaction of monomers(2) and (3) with merrifield resin, polymers of benzoyl derivative (4) and tiyofenacetylderivative (5) are sythesized. In order to observe the ion transport properties of synthesized compounds, studies, about liquid-liquid extraction between these compunds and the picrate solutions ofsome alcali (Na+,K+,Cs+) and transition metal (Cu2+,Co2+,Ni2+,Cd2+,Hg2+ and Pb2+)cations, were made.2007, 48 pagesKeywords: calix[4]aren, polimeric calixaren, phase-transfer reaction, metal picrateextraction.
