Abstract (EN)
The structures built in our earthquake ?prone country are desired to survive or at least resist deformations corresponding to life safety requirements in probable earthquakes. During designing the load bearing system, the earthquake loads must be accurately determined and the modeling should also be made accordingly. As well, cost efficiency is also anticipated considering the built structure. During modeling, it is evident that the use of different slab types effects the seismic behavior of the building, the selection of the load bearing system and the building cost.In this study, it is intended to investigate the effect of the selection of beam slabs or flat slabs on the building cost devoted to the intended use. Thus, the cost of the buildings are compared having the same structural configuration and period. This study is prepared in an extent of 5 chapters and the aim and the scope is indicated in the first chapter. The second chapter is comprised of the general information section and in this chapter, the information is given about the slab systems used in reinforced concrete structures. In the third chapter, the information about the load bearing systems is given and ductility levels are explained. In the fourth chapter, the properties of the expedient structures is demonstrated and the earthquake analysis of the aforementioned buildings is carried out. In this chapter, by using the results of the numerical applications, the cross-section effects of the buildings having beam and flat slabs were analyzed and compared regarding the cost and weight. The last chapter includes the conclusions according to the conducted study and comments.
