Abstract (EN)
The concept of consumption, which gained strength with the effect of developing technology, has become not only an economic but also a social and cultural phenomenon. Mass production that started with the Industrial Revolution also desired mass consumption. Thus, giant companies started to use various ways to ensure consumption realization of millions of people. Communities in the modern world, which have become a consumer society, live a consumption-oriented life. With the spread of the concept of consumption over time, it has integrated with the concept of culture. Adorno and Horkheimer, who are among the Frankfurt School intellectuals, presented the concept of "culture industry" in their work. The culture industry states that culture and culture products have become a commodity and consumption object in modern society. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of cinema and western-based films on consumer consumption within the context of media imperialism and culture industry.
