Abstract (EN)

In this study, Daryush Shayegan's concept of "cultural schizophrenia" has been researched. For this purpose; Shayegan's books Asia Confronting the West (1979), Mutilated Consciousness (1989), and Mestiza Consciousness (2012) have been analyzed. What kind of meanings Shayegan assigned to the concept of "cultural schizophrenia" has been determined. Particularly; the effects of the concepts "Paradigm" mentioned in Thomas Kuhn's "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" and "Episteme" mentioned in Michel Foucault's book "The Order of Things" have been researched. The contribution of Daryush Shayegan's concept of "cultural schizophrenia" to understanding of the present conditions of the traditional societies has been considered.
