Cultural heritage and study wisdom as a communication tool: The case of Günyüzü Village

It is known that the whistling language, which is a traditional language, is constantly used in different geographies of the world and in valuable and untouched regions of Anatolian lands. The whistling language was included in the intangible cultural heritage high school by UNESCO in 2017. Giresun and its environs are at the forefront of the regions where this language, which is known worldwide, is used in our country. However, in addition to Giresun, our original research, which will be included in the literature for the first time and carried out in the example of Günyüzü Village, has been examined by making use of very different neighboring disciplines as well as communication science. Thus, it has been our main goal to contribute modestly to this academic gap in the literature with its original subject and research area. In order to evaluate and exemplify the reflections of the whistled language, which constitutes the scope of the study, in a concrete way, it has been tried to reveal its scientific contribution and quality more clearly by using the semi-structured interview technique, and also by summarizing and limiting the subject. Thanks to this technique, an integrated academic study with the rich content and diversity of the ideas of the people of the region, together with the impartiality of the researcher, was designed and concluded. The unique features of physical geography, which is thought to be the main factor in shaping the whistled language outside the field of communication, are concise; however, an interdisciplinary study was designed by considering its details without neglecting it. Thus, considering the contribution of the study to the cultural structure of the region and Turkey, on the other hand, the originality of the subject has been tried to be enriched and diversified. According to the data obtained in the research, it has been determined that there is a decrease in the use of whistled language compared to the past. What can be done to keep the whistled language alive in accordance with its original form will be very important for the realization of the information obtained in terms of the results of the study.
