Abstract (EN)

The objective of this study is to evaluate the music studies in terms of culture, tradition and diaspora in Duralova, a quarter of Kürecik District in Malatya Province. The study consists of four parts. Since Durulova has an Alevi population density as an ethnic demographics, both religious and non-religious worldly music studies are observed. Durulova's local people are connected to Sinemilli Tribe. This Tribe is the religious organizational form of the Alevis. The Sinemilli Tribe extends its branches to certain regions and the one in Durulova covers the Kürecik region. The Cem ritual in Durulova is not much different from the ones in other regions. Cems almost have a standard, but in this study it was determined that the musical distinctions derive from the culture and people in this region sing their own regional Deyişs and Semahs. The study also shows that Deyişs and Semahs are species that show the most local characteristics and other than this, It was found out that other species like Miraçlama,Mersiye and Methiye are common with the Cems in other regions and do not show much difference in cultural terms In Durulova not only religious music studies, but also non- religious music studies are also seen. In implementation of non-religious music the musical influence of the other regions was found higher than religious music. Halays were most affected in Malatya, Akçadağ, Adıyaman and Hatay Kırıkhan regions. In addition, the poets, belonging to their own regions, also affected the music culture in their own region. When the religious musics are examined in that region, the makams are determined as Hüseyni, Hicaz, Uşşak and Segah. The time signatures of these makams are 2/4, 5/8, 8/8,9/8,10/8,10/16 and12/4. This region's poets from Akçadağ also contributed to the types of religious music. Most of their works shaped the cem rituals in terms of the lyrics and the melody structure. In this work, bearing descriptive qualities, qualitative study patterns were employed. Field study has been conducted as well as case study. Within the scope of this research, interviews with local people from Kürecik, Durulova, Akçadağ and Elbistan were carried out sometimes face to face and other times via phone calls. Virtual Interviews were made with local people from Durulova living abroad, where diaspora and migration experienced intensively. Key words: Kürecik, Durulova, Religious Music, Non-religious Music, Ethnology of Religious Music.
