Culturing process of Balkan immigrants in the context of intercultural comminication; Sample of Yalova

Intercultural communication is the field that examining the different cultures and the interaction between individuals belonging to these cultures. In this study, the interaction of Balkan culture group immigrants living in Yalova with the dominant culture was examined in the context of intercultural communication. This study has three parts. In the first part, cultural and intercultural communication theories and the developments related with the occurrence of these concepts are included. In the second part, the concept of immigration, which constitutes the main content of this study, and the history of Balkan immigrants are mentioned and also detailed information related to the migration issue are discussed. In the last part, the problem, purpose, method, importance and limitations of the study are included, and also the results and interpretations of this section are also included in the results and comments section. In this study in-depth interview method which is one of the qualitative research methods was used. A structured in-depth interview was conducted with 20 participants determined by the snowball sampling method within the research area. According to the data obtained in this study, it was observed that the differences in the interaction of Balkan immigrants with the dominant culture have affected the communication process and it has been observed that the Balkan culture has started to lose some of its characteristics in the dominant culture, and also it has been observed that all of the participants are sensitive to protect and maintain their cultural values. Beside of the whole study, acculturation, cultural change, cultural confusion and cultural diffusion processes are seen active when the findings of the study are evaluated in terms of cultural processes.
