Abstract (EN)

The Quran is a book of guidance and mercy, revealed by Allah to be a source of reform for human behavior, beliefs, and emotions. Allah has chosen the most eloquent and impactful forms of expression for it. The eloquence of the Quran is not limited to its aesthetic or rhetorical beauty, but extends to being an effective tool for psychological and educational influence. Its verses address the human soul, with all its emotions, fears, hopes, weaknesses, and aspirations, guiding, nurturing, and refining it. From this perspective, it is essential to focus on the important aspect of Quranic rhetoric, which is the therapeutic psychological impact of its eloquence an area that has not received direct attention in specialized research. Recent psychological studies have shown that words have a profound effect on the soul, and language is not just a tool for communication, but also a means of influence and change. The Quran preceded modern psychology in this concept by addressing the human soul with carefully chosen words, well-balanced phrases, and impactful rhetorical images that combine precision in meaning and beauty in style. This leaves a direct effect on the recipient, creating emotional reactions that drive the soul to tranquility, alertness, repentance, hope, and other positive psychological states. This highlights the role of Quranic eloquence not only as a rhetorical element but as an independent psychological and educational tool. When reflecting on the Quranic verses, one can observe that many of them begin by depicting a psychological state and then address it with a powerful rhetorical style. In times of sadness, the Quran brings comfort and hope with a repetitive style filled with optimism, as in the verse: "For indeed, with hardship comes ease; indeed, with hardship comes ease," where the repetition of "ease" instills a lasting hope in the soul. In times of fear, the Quran responds with expressions that dispel anxiety, such as in the verse: "Do not grieve; indeed, Allah is with us," which combines prohibition, reassurance, and faith in Allah's presence elements that contribute to psychological balance. Likewise, the descriptions of paradise and the detailed rhetorical depiction of its delights help to build hope and strengthen endurance in the face of trials, representing one of the greatest forms of psychological healing in the Quran. There is no doubt that Quranic eloquence relies on various means to influence the soul, such as simile, which brings abstract meanings closer to tangible reality; metaphor, which breathes life into meanings in a vivid, emotional form; repetition, which deepens the meaning in the heart; contrast, which presents the soul with a mirror of truth and falsehood; and the phonetic endings of verses, which capture attention and preserve the psychological rhythm of the verse. This variety of rhetorical techniques is not for its own sake, but is a carefully planned rhetorical device to serve the educational and psychological goals of the Quranic text. While modern psychological therapies focus on reassuring speech, changing negative thoughts, and building a positive self-image, the Quran preceded these concepts through its rhetorical techniques that present meanings in balanced forms, fulfilling the needs of the soul for security, belonging, dignity, hope, and forgiveness, all within a complete faith-based context. The verses do not merely diagnose, but also provide treatment; they do not just command and forbid, but link those with promises and warnings, addressing the soul with words that relate to life, reality, and the future. This style makes the Quran a psychological and spiritual reference, beyond just being a book of legislation and rulings.
