Abstract (EN)

Within this study, "The Concept of Angel in Quran and Hadiths" has been discussed. The concept of angel hasn't first appeared with Islam. It was also believed in angels and some unseeable creatures in religions and cultures before Islam. For this reason, we firstly discussed origin of word of "Angel" and its meanings. To understand angels mentioned in Quran and Hadiths firstly, we should conceive the belief of angel and its meanings in previous religions and cultures. For this reason, the first section mentions about the word of angel and belief of angel in some religions and cultures. Nevertheless, it was offered that there was a concept of spiritual creature in all religions but it conveys different meaning in every religion. Also, this study offers word of angel's scope and its place in the spiritual creatures. In the second part of study, the angels that their names are clearly mentioned in Quran and hadiths and their functions are presented and the similarities are compared with other reügions and cultures. Although the concept of angel includes all the spiritual creatures called "Jin", "Satan" etc. in other religions, according to Islam it has special charecteristic features and it's created from light (nûr) and its creation is different from the other spiritual creatures. Moreover in our study, it is mentioned about angel's features, functions and affairs with human. Because the angels are unseeable creatures, information related with them are only obtioned from Quran and hadiths. In this study, it is mentioned about some beliefs connected with the angel which are widespread among the community and their places in Islam.
