Abstract (EN)

This study focuses on the concept of "wa'īd" as presented in the verses of Ibrahim 14/14, Taha 20/113, and Qaf 50/14, 20, 28, and 45 in the Holy Qur'an, analyzing the nature of the term "wa'īd" and its related concept "wa'd" (promise) as reflected in interpretations and translations. It explores various types of "wa'īd" and the discussions within historical explanatory texts over time. The main objectives of this research are to define these concepts, conduct a semantic analysis, and discuss the concept of "wa'īd" as mentioned in the aforementioned verses by utilizing translations and interpretations, as well as synonyms and antonyms. The study will also analyze which groups are addressed in various contexts regarding "wa'īd." Furthermore, it will examine who makes "wa'īd" declarations in the Qur'an, for whom, and for what purposes. Additionally, the research aims to determine how Allah (SWT) addresses individuals who fulfill worship and obedience, distinguishing between those who are willful and those who are not, as well as the implications of these declarations, the intended messages, and the style of admonition. This research aims to present practical results based on data obtained from exegeses and other relevant sources. Throughout the research process, data from tafsir sources and other compiled materials were analyzed. In conclusion, this thesis emphasizes the Qur'an's mission of conveying guidance to humanity, highlighting the discussions of "wa'd" and "wa'īd" through dual concepts such as guidance-misguidance, paradise-hell, and blessed-damned. It argues that these discussions play a vital role in transforming the crisis-ridden lifestyles of today's world into peace. Finally, this research reveals that the interpretations of early exegetes on these concepts resonate with contemporary problems, affirming the continued validity of Divine discourse and the universal message until the Day of Judgment. Keywords: Heaven, hell, punishment, tafsir, (wa'īd) promise, (wa'd) promise/vow.
