The Concept of şehadet in holy Koran

The invisible Root meaning of "şehadet" is "to be present". It also expresses some other meanings as 'to admit, to swear, to witness, to confirm, to comprehend etc. "Şehadet" is in meaning connection in Koran with some other words and concepts from different respects. Its connection with other words appears to be in three ways. The first is a synonymy connection with "to be present" and "knowledge". The second is a connection of opposite meaning with "gayb (the invisible)", "ketm (concealment)" and "istitar (being veiled)". The third is a connection of it with the words "gaflet (ignorance)", "kist-adalet (justice)" and "al-zur" which is based on neither a synonimous nor an opposite connection. There seems an extension in the meaning field of "şehadet" in the Koranic systematics. Şehadet is used in the Koran in seventeen meanings besides its original meaning of "being present", which are angle, a Muslim who is killed for the sake of Allah, a messanger, the judgement day, the last judgement, to give testimony etc. With regard to its connection with beings, the concept bears quite a different meanings as an action of God at first and also of visible-invisible creatures. Allah witnessed to His Being, to the Prophet Muhammed, to that revealed to the Prophet, and to his prophethood. In case that it means an action and characteristics of prophets and believers, its meaning "following the example of gains significance. Our prophet Muhammed (p.b.u.h) and other prophets are sent to their communities as witnesses. They represented best examples for their responsive communities and showed how Islam could be practised in the personal and social life. The believers have also a mission of showing best examples for themselves and for the other communities and witness the truth. The people of the book witnessed to the truths regarding the Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Muhammed. But whenever seing this not in their interest, they denied those truths and concealed their witnesses. When means an action of angles, it means "to admit".
