Abstract (EN)

One of the most important issues that should not be ignored when it comes to understanding the Quran is context. Because while the intra-textual context aims to establish the meaning within the verses, we also establish the historical connection of the text with the extra-textual context. Both of them are necessary for a better understanding of the text and an effort to achieve the divine purpose. Ultimately, it is not possible to reach the correct meaning based solely on linguistic analysis. Language is variable and the meanings of words and concepts may differ over time. For this reason, on the way to understanding the Quran, it is necessary to take into account the textual and historical context of the text as well as its linguistic analysis. Because the Quran was revealed during a period of 23 years, sometimes taking into account certain events that took place and sometimes taking into account the state of society. The effort to understand this text, which has been revealed into life, by separating it from the bond of life or by separating the groups of verses that have been revealed in a certain integrity from their integrity, will be incomplete and far from reflecting the truth. In this respect, an effort should be made to reach the correct meaning by establishing the historical connection between the external context and the verses, and the internal context with both the before and after of the verses and the integrity of the Quran itself. With this study, we will try to demonstrate with examples that the Quran cannot be understood correctly with fragmentary approaches. Our aim is to touch upon the shortcomings and problems of fragmentary approaches and to show that achieving the divine will is only possible by knowing the wording of the Quran, its context and the environment in which it was revealed. While doing this, we first tried to identify sources by scanning the literature. Various books, articles, theses, symposiums, etc. We created the main framework of our thesis by using these studies. First, we examined concepts related to context. Then, we examined the reasons for out-of context comments. While examining these reasons, we aimed to better understand the subject by giving examples from the verses. In the last section, we grouped the verses with meanings disconnected from the context based on their reasons. We have tried to convey the comments made about these verses from past to present in general and to express our own opinion based on these comments.
