Abstract (EN)

Dystopia is a genre of critical texts written in a hellish world where social orders are disrupted, global disasters occur, and events usually take place in the future or in an alternative world. Dystopian novels began to be written after the disasters (wars, economic depressions, fascism, deterioration of ecological balance, violations of women's rights) experienced since the beginning of the twentieth century led to the realization that utopias could not be realized and human beings gave up hope. As a reflection of today's dystopian age, a new dystopian text is being written every day. Ecological dystopias or ecodystopias are a type of dystopian texts that deal with the disasters caused by the disruption of ecological balance. In other words, ecological dystopia is an "apocalyptic" literature. Ecological dystopias have emerged as events such as global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, pollution of the oceans, oil wars have become more talked about and people have started to gain awareness on these issues. These scenarios about the end of the world have always intrigued and continue to intrigue human beings. The main purpose of this study is to examine the usability of ecological dystopian novels in Turkish language and literature education. The data of the study were obtained using "qualitative" research method. In the study, "document analysis" design, one of the qualitative research designs, was used as the design. The ecological dystopian works named "Kurbağa Adası", "Son Ada" and "Tokyo'nun Son Çocukları" were selected as research materials. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. The selected ecological dystopian novel examples were analyzed under the headings of eco-dystopian motifs, ecological awareness, Turkish language and literature education, and the sections appropriate to these headings were quoted and interpreted. As a result of the research, it was determined that the ecological dystopian novels subject to the research can be used as teaching materials in Turkish language and literature course.
