Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study was to determine the views of instructors working in School of Foreign Languages on the perceived levels of importance of global education initiatives in their schools which are in public universities in Turkey. The population includes 4228 instructors working at 104 Schools of Foreign Languages in 2021-2022 academic year. Sequential explanatory model, a type of mixed method research, was implemented in the study. In quantitative phase, purposive sampling technique was used. Quantitative data was collected through Global Education Initiatives Survey developed by the researcher. Data was analysed with descriptive statistics, T-test and ANOVA by using SPSS 21 and AMOS 23 programs in the quantitative part of the study. Maximum variation sampling, one of the methods of purposeful sampling, was used in qualitative phase of the study. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured individual interviews. Qualitative content analysis was used as a data analysis technique in this part of the study. Factors of global education initiatives in Schools of Foreign Languages were determined as student outcomes, internationalization, technology use, global doctrines as well as organizational structure and process. The highest views of instructors belong to technology use factor while the lowest ones belong to internalization. It was concluded that students in SFLs acquire a good part of 21st century skills, various internalization activities are seen in SFLs, effective technology use in teaching activities is observed, some global doctrines are incorporated in classes and organizational structure and process include several applications corresponding to global tendencies.
