Possible changes in climate types in Kastamonu province due to global climate change and possible effects on agricultural areas

Abstract (EN)
Global climate change is defined as an irreversible problem that will affect all living things and ecosystems worldwide. In order to minimize the effects of the process and to be prepared for the process, it is of great importance to determine the changes that may occur in climatic parameters and climate types in the coming years. In this study, it is aimed to determine some climatic parameters and possible climate changes that may occur in the coming years in Kastamonu province by using different models. For this purpose, according to De Martonne, Emberger and Erinç Climate classes, climate change based on precipitation and temperature in the years 2040, 2060, 2080 and 2100 and changes in these under two different scenarios were tried to be determined. As a result of the study, it is predicted that the average temperature will increase, the amount of precipitation will decrease and accordingly the climate types will shift towards continental climate type in Kastamonu in the coming period. According to the results of the study, it is estimated that the average annual precipitation in Kastamonu will decrease considerably in 2100, and it will be below 500 mm in approximately 12.21% of the province and above 900 mm in only 0.01% of the province. There will be a significant increase in the average annual temperature. While the average temperature today is between 3-13 °C, it is determined that the average annual temperature may be above 10 °C in more than 99% of the province in 2100. For example, according to the Emberger climate classification, it is estimated that the areas where the humid climate type, which prevails in more than half of the province today, will gradually decrease, and in 2100, the humid climate type may disappear completely and areas where the arid climate type prevails will be formed.
