Abstract (EN)
Yemen is a country caught up in global struggle, where human rights violations are rampant. The Yemeni Civil War, which began in 2014 with the Houthi rebels seizing the capital city of Sana'a, has rapidly escalated into a violent conflict between the Houthi rebels and the Saudi Arabia-led coalition forces. The sectarian clashes between the Iran-backed Shia Houthi rebels and the Saudi-backed Sunni government forces have fueled the conflict. The regional consequences of the Yemeni conflicts are extensive, with Iran's support for the Houthis affecting sectarian divisions and clashes in the region. Saudi Arabia's military intervention in Yemen is associated with its efforts to limit Iran's influence. This conflict has become part of the wider regional rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran, posing a broader security threat to the region. The humanitarian crisis in Yemen is regarded as one of the largest global humanitarian crises. The war has caused widespread devastation and displacement in the country. There are significant challenges in accessing food, water, healthcare, and basic necessities. Children and women are the most affected groups by this crisis. Despite international appeals for assistance, humanitarian aid remains insufficient. This thesis aims to investigate the fundamental dynamics of the Yemeni Civil War, sectarian conflicts, regional implications of the conflicts, and the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, focusing on the human rights violations within Yemen's context in the global struggle. The thesis will provide a historical background, analyze the causes of the conflicts, assess regional effects, and conduct an in-depth examination of the humanitarian crisis.
