Development cooperation activities in the context of alleviating global poverty

The issue of poverty and alleviating poverty have been occupy the global agenda especially in the last thirty years. The irrepressible rise of poverty levels required a review of methods to alleviating poverty. Development cooperation activities, which emerge as a reflection of this requirement, represent the development aid of rich countries to poor countries in line with their needs. These aids made in quite different categories and their effectiveness in alleviating poverty is a matter of debate. Most of the researches reveal that such activities have a positive effect on poverty reduction. This study aims also to measure the impact of development cooperation activities on poverty. For this purpose, the effect of official development aids on poverty was measured using the panel data analysis method on the human development data of the 27 least developed countries. As a result, it has been determined that development cooperation activities have a positive effect in reducing poverty and increasing welfare and this effect will be stronger when the right conditions are provided.
