Architectural education and Turkey in globalizing world

Globalisation effects on lots of area in the world can be examined under three titles. We cansee its economical effect with country economies? integration to global economy, politicaleffect with alienation of nation-governments' authorisations and powers to the multinationaland over multinational organisations, effect to the socio-cultural area with providing countriesto know each other's cultures intimately, to become closer and in the similarity of the subjectsdiscussed and talked. One of these common subject is education that is the one of basics ofthe culture. Changes in the education cover all the levels between nursery school with theuniversity. Architecture and architectural education also takes place, in this changing which iscreated by global world.In this context, in this study it was tried to show that effect of the globalisation to thearchitecture and architectural education in America, Europe and Turkey with a comparisonanalyses of the education between in Turkey and in the world. For this analyses, courseprograms of the schools chosen from American Continent (USA, Canada), EuropeanContinent (England, Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland) were introduced as creditsystems and compulsory courses for the graduation and also from Turkey architecturaldepartments' course programs of the MSGSÜ, TÜ, YTÜ, DEÜ, ODTÜ, KTÜ were examinedas credit systems, and compulsory courses and hours for the graduation.In this study, the effect of the globalisation to the architecture and architectural education andso architectural profession has been tried to introduce and some results and proposals havebeen presented with determining the place of Turkey in architectural education comparativelyto the world.Key Words: Globalisation, Architectural Education, Architecture, America, Europe andTurkey with a Comparison Analysesxi
