An analysis on changes of development factors in globalization process for some selected countries

The term `Globalization? has been developing for the last 400 years. This term came to the agenda of political and academic life of today as an important issue. This importance of globalization today has gained serious acceleration in the last quarter of 20th Century and political, economical, socio-cultural and technological aspects have been the central points in globalization.Main dynamic of globalization becomes technological developments and these developments take place at the center of economical changes. The effects of this relationship between technology and economy in some time spreads to social, political and cultural life of societies, and this causes momentum in whole society?s changes.In today?s world, the borders of national cultures, economies and lands are vanishing and globalization brings new tendencies in almost every area of life. These changes lead to re-structuring which is driven by investments in knowledge, communication, biological new industrial raw materials, new energy systems, transformation in production systems and most importantly technological fields. The effects of this restructuring so called globalization could be seen widely in cultural, sociological, economic and political fields. When we take the globalization process as restructuring of the fields mentioned above, it may be accepted as the motor force of advancement in welfare of all types of countries especially developing and less developed countries. Here, by mentioning about advancement in welfare of societies we did not mean only monetary welfare. This advancement also means better education, good quality in healthy and longer life, appropriate environment where each individual can use his/her abilities optimally, and democracy, human rights and security.In this study, panel estimation methods have been used to analyze the effects of globalization on the advancement of welfare. Human development index and multi-dimensional globalization index have been selected to construct the base for data set. Countries have been studied according to their development levels. Data on 88 developed, developing and less developed countries are collected and empirical analyses have been conducted.Key Words: Globalization, Development, Globalization Index, New Approaches to Development, Panel Data Analysis
