The political dimension of globalization

KEYWORDS: Globalization, Nation-State, Democracy, New World Order, Turkey. In our work, by using comparative method, we tried to discuss, in the framework of political dimension of globalization, dimension and influences of change and transformation occuring in the nation-state structure, human rights, civil society, democracy and new government idea and how this change and transformation affect the occurance of new world order. In our work in which we do not expect all the dimensions and problems related to globalization to be comprehended and present agreed-upon solutions, we aimed to contribute efforts of understanding globalization, determine the problems and benefits stemming from it and agree with arguments and ideas developed to solve these problems, put forward main parameters related to political dimension of globalization and serve the occurance of a wholistic point of view. The political dimension of globalization mostly emposes itself to societies in the framework of changes in the mentality of nation-state, the increasing significance of civil society, the reorganization of status of citizenship based on adoption of differences, the occurance of new government idea, the consept of participative democracy's gain of a global dimension, attaching importance to lokalization, human right's gain of a universal dimension and makes transformation in these areas inevitable. It is observed that the developments have influenced nation-state and transformed the idea of sovereignty and organization structure. In our work, we aim to investigate political changes in the framework of swift chenges and transformations stemming from globalization process. In the course of globalization, looking at the need for political directorship, it has been concluded that the functions of nation-states have differentiated and they have gained sigrificance.
