In this study a new polymer poly(hydroksyethyl methacrylateco-acyrilic acid-co-ammonium acrylate) was synthesized in our laboratory and was used as solid phase for the preconcentration of lead using batch and flow sytems. Lead was determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. In batch mode, the effect of solution pH, the preconcentration time, eluent concentration, eluent volume, and initial lead concentration on the recovery was investigated. I flow mode, the flowrate of analyte solution through the column, eluent flowrate, eluent flowrate were investigated to reach maximum enrichment factor. At the optimised conditions the capacity of the polymer was calculated. Using the batch mode the enrichment factor was 100, the LOD 0.5 and the presicion was 3.2 in terms of % RSD. The Recovery was found as 98.4±3.2 %. The polymer can be used 4 times sequentially with recovery values higher than 95%.
