11 FLORA OF KURTGIRMEZ MOUNTAIN AND ÇATAK CANYON (KÜRE MOUNTAINS KASTAMONU) (Master Thesis) Mehmet Ufuk ÖZBEK GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY June 2004 ABSTRACT The study area is consists of Kurtgirmez Mountain and Çatak Canyon, its vicinities in Kastamonu province. In this study, 815 plant specimens were collected. After the determination of specimens, we got to result find, that the flora is composed of 79 families, 287 genera and 431 taxa which are specific and infraspecific rank. 37 specific and infraspecific taxa are new records for A4 square. The 34 taxa are endemic to Turkey (7,88%). Phytogeographical elements of the area are as follows: Euro-Siberian 136 (31,55 %), Irano- Turanian 23 (5,33 %), Mediterranean 16 (3,71 %), and the others, wide spreaded and phytogeographical region are unidentified, 256 (59,39 %).
