Three essays on institutional quality

Living conditions and the ability to access basic human needs vary worldwide. Understanding the reason for this difference will be possible by determining the source of wealth and development. Institutions play an important role in explaining economic performance differences. It is necessary to explain the change in economic performance with the roles of institutions such as encouraging and reducing uncertainties. The main purpose of this thesis is to explain the impact of institutions on the economy with different economic factors. For this purpose, there seperate articles have examined the relationship between institutional quality and environmental sustainability, income inequality and financial development. In the study in the first essay, the dynamic effect of institutional quality on carbon dioxide emissions for the period between 1995-2020 for E-7 (Emerging 7) countries was examined. The environmental sustainability problem attracts global attention and requires the support of different economic units under its influence for its solution. The second essay examines the effect of institutional quality on income inequality. It was examined for the period between 2002-2020 for E-7 countries using panel data analysis methods. The evaluation of the income inequality issue, which is among the basic economic problems, through institutional quality makes it possible to determine the economic problem, which is an institutional process. In the third essay, the relationship between Turkey's institutional quality and financial development was examined using the time series analysis method for the years 1995-2020. It shows that institutional quality affects financial development, which provides support for the continuity of economic activities.
