ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING (ERP) and ITS IMPLEMENTATIONS IN TURKEY (M. Sc. Thesis) MUSTAFA FATİH YEGÜL GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY January 2003 ABSTRACT In this study, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, which can be defined as a company-wide modular software package that enables enterprises to manage all their work processes with the support of a data/information management system, have been introduced in detail and implementations of these systems in Turkey have been examined. With the help of data collected by means of a survey study from enterprises in Turkey, which have set up or are currently setting up ERP systems, the approach of enterprises in Turkey to ERP, expectations of them from ERP and their benefits from ERP have been analyzed. Besides, the problems encountered during the ERP system installation and operation, and the aspects of ERP that can be considered as disadvantages are among the issues that were clarified. Implementation of ERP in the world and the trends about the future of ERP are also discussed.
