Abstract (EN)

The institutional theory, which has been the subject of interdisciplinary analysis by the economists, sociologists and organization researchers, is divided into two as old and new institutional theory throughout the course of historical evolution process. Therefore, the concepts of ?institution? and ?institutionalization? reflect the different points of view in accordance with the course of the theory?s progression. The old instutitional theory defines the organization as the instutition and focuses on the organizational structure in its analysis. The new instutitional theory, which constitutes the main theme of the study, defines the environment as the institution. The new institutional theory asserts that it is the institutional environment that determines the activities of the organizations according to the technical and institutional environments differentation. The organizations on the one hand put their rationality on the foreground in their technical environments and on the other run with the concern of legitimacy. Organizations enable the continuity of their activities not by applying the rules of technical environments but by applying and implementing the rules and regulations of institutional environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the perceptions of administrators and empleyees, who work at the private hospitals with ISO-9000 certificate, about the technical and institutional environments. For this purpose, in order to test the hypotheses various statistical methods have been used. According to the analysis made, it is revealed that statistically there are strong and significant relations between institutional environment and organizational structure. In addition to this, it is stated that the pressure of mimetic isomorphism has been noticed by the private hospitals at a higher level and it has affected the organizational structures.Consequently, the instutitional environment is more effective in determining the organziational structure than the technical environment. The primary aim of private hospitals with ISO-9000 while fulfilling the accreditation standarts is to reflect the image of ?proper organization?. In this way, they will enable their legitimacy in the institutional environment with the certificate they have.Key Words1. Institution2. Institutionalization3. Technical Environment4.
