Abstract (EN)

Studies explaining generations and generation differences attract great attention in academic literature, popular culture, business life and education. It is important to understand the generations and reveal their differences, especially considering the fact that five generations live together today. In this context, the study aims to reveal the changes in various fields by examining the thesis studies on generations in the field of social sciences. In line with this general purpose; It was investigated in which disciplines the thesis studies were concentrated, what the preferred paradigm was, and in which subjects and disciplines they were distributed. The research adopted a qualitative paradigm and based on document analysis. The obtained data were analyzed by systematic analysis. In this study, the PRISMA guideline was also used. The population of the study consists of theses published by YÖK National Thesis Center between 2014-2022, and the sample of the study consists of 172 studies conducted between generations. In this context, according to the results of the research, 28 of the doctoral theses constitute 16.28%, 144 of the master's theses constitute 83.72%, 160 and 93.02% of the Turkish studies, and 12 of the English language studies. It was determined that it was 6.98% and over the years, it was 20.93% of 2019 theses with 36 pieces, 20.93% of 2021 theses with 36 pieces, and 25.58% of 2022 theses with 44 pieces. has been made. When we look at the disciplines in which the studies are concentrated, it is determined that the Department of Public Relations accounts for 23.84% with 41 studies, 18.02% with 31 studies in Communication Sciences, and 22.67% with 39 studies in the field of Advertising. has been made. Considering the preferred research methods of the studies, it was determined that 42 theses (24.42%) were conducted with the qualitative method and 70 theses (40.70%) were conducted with the quantitative method. It has been revealed that theses generally focus on areas such as marketing, consumer and sales. When we look at the disciplines where the studies are concentrated, it is seen that they are mostly in the field of Public Relations. In this context, it is important to increase intergenerational studies in different fields. It can be said that it would be beneficial to conduct future research on work values, job satisfaction and organizational commitment, or marketing, brand and consumer research, different from research, which will improve the literature on the subject and, in the light of existing research, on Turkey-specific and intercultural transitions.
