Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, an inset fed microstrip patch antenna designed operating at a frequency of 5.8 GHz was first performed. The substrate for the designed antenna is based on Rogers RT Duroid 5880 material with a dielectric coefficient of 2.2 was designed, and its thickness was determined to be 0.9 mm. A square split ring resonator shape has been preferred as the ground surface geometry, and many defected ground surfaces have been designed and their effects on antenna parameters have been studied. The square split ring resonator (S-SRR) design has been improved and optimized by running MATLAB and CST programs together. In the designs made, in which way the patch position of the antenna, the length of the feed line and the distance between the square split ring resonators changes the antenna parameters were considered. Antennas operating in one frequency band and in more than one frequency band were obtained at the final stage of the study. According to findings from simulations of antenna designs done in Advanced design systems (ADS) program, antennas which operating in a single frequency band improvement in the parameters of bandwidth, return loss, gain, and radiation efficience has been observed. Although the gain value has decreased for 5.8 GHz operating frequency in designs that have developed a multi-band antenna feature, it has been observed that the antenna has gained the ability to work in multiple frequency ranges without changing the patch shape.
