Abstract (EN)

This study was performed in order to determine the prevalence of parasites and parasite eggs in stray dogs in the Kütahya Municipality Animal Shelter. A total of 33 dogs of different ages and sexes were used in this study. After faecal samples examined, dogs were found infected by parasites. It was found that rates of infection were % 66 ( 22 out of 33 ) in the Kütahya Municipality Animal Shelter. The parasites responsible for the infection were identified as follows : Toxocara canis % 51, Toxoscaris leonina % 12, Ancylostoma caninum % 3, Isospora spp. % 15 and 1 Demodex spp ( %3 ) detected. It was cocluded that dogs in the city center left from Kütahya Municipality Animal Shelter are infected by parasites that can be dangerous for the community and it has to be taken caution for public health.Keywords : Kütahya Municipality Animal Shelter, Dog, Feces, Parasite
