Abstract (EN)

Biomass energy from renewable energy sources; it is a natural energy source obtained from various organic wastes such as animal wastes, plant wastes, industrial wastes, domestic wastes and forest wastes. "Biogas", which has an important place within the scope of this sustainable energy, is a gas mixture containing mainly methane (CH4). Kütahya, is a province with a population of approximately 576 688 inhabitants located in the Aegean Region of Türkiye. In 2022, there are a total of 195 195 cattle, 474 263 sheep and 1 733 956 poultry in Kütahya. The 2 419 698 tons of wet waste obtained from these animals creates environmental problems, primarily within the city. Taking into account the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, solving problems, producing and consuming energy without harming the environment and human health is possible with the evaluation of biogas energy. A retrospective ten-year study was conducted in Kütahya province and the amount of biogas to be attained from the animal wastes for 2022 was calculated as nearly 36.6 million m3. The amounts of biogas that can be produced in Tavşanlı, Central and Simav districts are found to be 8.5 million m3, 7.3 million m3 and 6.4 million m3, respectively. The amount of electrical energy that can be produced from biogas that can be obtained from animal wastes in Kütahya province in 2022 is calculated as 92 354 MWh/year.
