Abstract (EN)
The group of disease the leishmaniasis is caused by obligate intracellular protozoa of genus Leishmania. These are present in 3 different forms: Visceral Lesihmaniasis ( VL), Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL) and Mucocutaneous Leishmaniasis (MCL). The Cutaneous Leishmaniasis is skin disease transmitted by infected sand fly. Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is most frequently diagnosed by clinical evaluation and is typical acute lesions can be confused with other dermatological problems, such as sporotrichosis. The Cutaneous Leishmaniosis caused by Leishmania tropica and Leishmania major is a health problem in Çukurova region.Serological tests, Indirect Immunofluorescence Antibody Test (IFAT), the Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), direct microscopic examination of smears and culture are use conventional methods for diagnosis of Cutaneous Leishmaniosis. None of these techniques isn?t a rapid and definite diagnosis metods for CL. Furtermore, these techniques are not adequate for species identification due to the morfological similarity of different Leishmania species. Therefore, recently several molecular methods, especially those based on the Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) have been developed for the diagnosis and identification of Leishmania species. For this purpose,in this study it has studied 64 smear samples and 50 aspirate material (totally 114) whose clinical findings were positive for Cutaneous Leishmaniosis by PCR-RFLP. End of the study, it has been found that PCR is 100% sensitivite and 58.8% specific of smear sample and 100% sensitivite 68.4 % specific of aspirate material. Our most interesting finding is the presence of Leishmania infantum isolates in CL cases without Visceral Lesihmaniosis history. Keywords: Cutaneous Leishmaniasis, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Restriction Fragment Lenght Polymorphısm (RFLP).
